>>>>>>>>Hello On The Rocks,
I did not know we had anyone here from Mumbai, India. Are you on a work assignment, or is that where you were born and raised?
Wow. Ghandi's home and museum. Nice.

background:.
i've come to the conclusion that many doctrines of the wts are unscriptural after many years of privately disagreeing with some of them but feeling that the society was "mostly right" and still being used by jehovah.
this turning point has happened in the last year or so.

i was curious if anyone else has gone through a similar experience.. when i became inactive 4 years ago, i went through a period of not being able to focus on just about anything, other than doing tremendous amounts of research to prove to myself what my beliefs were, and to clearly identify my issues with the jw organization.
i was mad - and i was on a mission to build the ultimate case against the wt.
however, having read the fine advice on here, i backed off with my family, since it would have just gotten ugly.. i avoided posting on here for years, and had cut down my research and put it on the back burner.. however, i still felt a need to "witness" to my family and to have an open discussion with my wife.
I don't know how to express myself on this subject. I have spent a life time being submissive plus my heritage DNA is to be ultra polite.
I also was in the right frame of mind when I finally understood TTATT.
My only Brother was out, years ago. His enthuasium, or obsession, about what he found out, and how he overly expressed himself, was scary, to me.
If someone I cared about, talked to me slowly, gently, to try carefully, to reason, it would have helped.
Would I have loved to have known TTATT years ago, and reached out for a real life? Of course.

my ex-husband was in bethel when the society bought and started renovating the towers hotel in brooklyn.
my family stayed there when the society was renting a few floors - the place was beyond flea-bag - and people actually lived there.
once the society took possession of the building they started renovating, and of course the residents had to be evicted.
Cobalt>>>I too stayed at The Towers in 1973...uneventful. I had stayed at The Towers previously, in 1970. At that time, during the middle of the night, I kept getting up to look out the window, because it sounded like, the numerous bell clanging fire engines and the siren blaring ambulances to be several floors directly below my window and that we would be evacuating the bldg. immediately. Imagine my surprise, when I realized this was just usual night sounds in the Big Apple,... OK, Brooklyn. lol
PS...At my first try looking out our window, in 1970, thinking the building must be on fire, what with all the fire engines and ambulance noise, seemingly, directly, several floors straight down from us, I tried to lift the screen a bit from the window pane, all the better to see, right, and the stupid screen goes and falls right out and sails off, I guess to screen heaven...never to be seen again. I must say, it did make looking down and out a whole lot easier, for the rest of the night. lol I felt guilty for years, loosing that screen. Sorry.
Follow-up PS. So when we stayed at The Towers in 1973, the night was noisy, of course, but I knew if the fire engines and ambulance noises were for our hotel, somebody would telephone or knock on the door and let us know. So I said my prayers and went to sleep.
